In order to sign up for LP Ironman 2012 you have to get in line at the crack of dawn - we were up at 3:30 I think that morning. We had worked the race - day before doing "Special Needs Bike" - hand out bags to bikers after their first loop of 56 miles - with "stuff" that they need for the second loop. We volunteer not only because we get to participate in the race, but it also gets you a guaranteed slot in the next year's race which sells out next day.
